Duplicate Bridge: June 1

It’s a big week of special events at both of Buffalo’s major bridge clubs.

At the Bridge Center of Buffalo, there’s the extra-point Grace Lee Memorial Scholarship Game with dinner at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 2, game at 5:45. Fee is $11. Call Jim Gullo at 348-4132. Extra-point games will be played Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday morning and evening and Thursday noon. The club hosts a unit game Thursday evening, June 6.

Airport Bridge Club manager Bill Finkelstein’s birthday party for the players continues with a triple red point NAP qualifier today, Saturday, June 1, and double-point Swiss teams at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 2. All morning games Monday to Friday offer triple red points, as does the evening game Monday, June 3, at 7:15 p.m.

Both clubs host the Worldwide Pairs games Friday, June 7, at 7:15 p.m. and next Saturday, June 8, at 11 a.m. (Airport) and noon (BCB).

Congratuations to Dan Gerstman, who earned the most master points among the Buffalo area players at the Cleveland All-American Regional May 21 to May 26. He finished sixth overall with 86.48.
