Unit pairs games with extra points are scheduled in two clubs today, Saturday, June 22. The game at the Airport Bridge Club begins at 11 a.m. The Lockport Duplicate Club is hosting the annual Unit 116 Strawberry Social, with strawberries at 12:30 p.m. and the game at 1 p.m., in the Dale Center, 33 Ontario St., Lockport.

Unit championships will be held today at 11 a.m. in the Airport Bridge Club and at 12:30 p.m. in the Lockport Club as part of the annual Unit 116 strawberry social.

The Airport Bridge Club has triple-point pairs games at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 23, and 11 a.m. Monday, June 24. The Bridge Center of Buffalo offers supervised play for beginners at noon Monday, June 24.

The annual Buffalo Regional Tournament runs Tuesday, June 25, to Sunday, June 30, in the Holiday Inn, 100 Whitehaven Road, Grand Island, with games at 9 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday, and Swiss teams at 10 a.m. June 30. Most ACBL-sanctioned local clubs will be closed during the tournament, although Delaware Wednesday will play as usual. For complete tournament info, click this link.

Congratulations to John Ziemer, the top Unit 116 silver point winner in the District 5 Summer Sectional Tournament at the Clubs (STaC) from June 10 to 16 in local bridge clubs. Second overall in the district, which includes Cleveland and Pittsburgh, he earned 22.41 points.

Other leading Unit 116 point winners included Jerry Geiger, 17.28, fifth in the district; Judi Marshall, 17.08, sixth; Saleh Fetouh, 14.98, ninth; Dale Anderson, 11.61, 19th; Tom Fraas, 11.55, 20th; Mike Kisiel, 10.36, 26th; and Michael Ryan, 10.16, 30th.
