All of the duplicate bridge clubs in the Buffalo area are closed until further notice due to the threat of the novel coronavirus.

The ACBL has recommended postponement or cancellation of all club games and tournaments through May 11.
In the meantime, the ACBL has teamed with Bridge Base Online to provide an 18-board game online every day at 10 a.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Players can earn black points and have the majority of their table fees go back to their home clubs. Players must have partners and are advised to sign up quickly with their partners after registration begins two hours prior to each game. Instructions are available via a link at acbl.org.

Unit 116 has canceled the Buffalo Spring Sectional Tournament April 23 to 25, the Non-Life Master Sectional Tournament May 16 and 17 and the Spring Session of Youth Bridge Lessons. They will not be rescheduled.
Still on the Unit 116 calendar are the summer picnic Aug. 2 and the Buffalo Fall Sectional Tournament Sept. 11 to 13.

Duplicate Bridge: March 21, 2020

After the ACBL this week advised cancellation or postponement of all club games and tournaments through May 11 because of COVID-19, Western New York Unit 116 canceled its Spring Sectional Tournament April 24-26, its Non-Life Master Sectional May 16-17 and the spring session of its Youth Bridge Lessons.

Among clubs, the Airport Bridge Club was first to close last week. The Delaware Wednesday, East Aurora and Lockport clubs also canceled their games for at least two weeks. Since most bridge players fall into the age group that is in greatest danger from the novel coronavirus, clubs will not reopen until they determine that the threat is over.

The Bridge Center of Buffalo, which hosts Bridge Club Meridian and Delaware Wednesday, continued to be open all week, then closed Friday.

The Airport Bridge Club has temporarily closed to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, although no bridge player has shown any sign of illness. The club is scheduled to reopen Monday, March 30.
