Duplicate Bridge: Nov. 17

    The Bridge Center of Buffalo and the Airport Bridge Club will be closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 22.

   The Airport Bridge Club will hold a double-point Swiss team game at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, with free pizza. The club also will hold double-point games at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20 and Wednesday, Nov. 21. The club’s next progressive jackpot individual game is at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25.

   An ACBL-wide charity game will be held on the evening of Monday, Nov. 26, with hand analysis by Barry Rigal and bonus master points awarded the district and national levels. Taking part locally will be Bridge Club Meridian and the Airport Bridge Club.

   Chris Urbanek will give a single session lesson on defense at 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the Bridge Center of Buffalo. Topics include opening leads, signals, strategies and trump promotion.  For info, call 834-4222.

   Western New York Unit 116 will hold its annual meeting and election on Sunday, Dec. 2, in Father Justin Knights of Columbus Hall, 2735 Union Road at William Street, Cheektowaga. A roast beef lunch will be held at noon, followed by the meeting and a pairs game at 1 p.m.
   Tickets for lunch and the game are $5 for ACBL members, $10 for non-members. Deadline for purchasing tickets, which are available from any Unit 116 board member, is Nov. 27.    Balloting for new board members is taking place at the clubs. Six candidates – Sue Bergman, Liz Clark, Richard McGowan, Sue Neubecker, Larry Soong and Eleanor Whelan – are competing for three open positions. Voting closes at noon Dec. 2.

   The Fall Sectional Tournament at the Clubs (STaC) will be held in participating local clubs from Monday, Dec. 3, to Sunday, Dec. 9. Silver master points will be awarded for play during regularly-scheduled games at the clubs, with bonus points at the district level for winners. The Airport Bridge Club plans to hold morning and afternoon STaC games Monday, Dec. 3, to Saturday, Dec. 8, and a STaC Swiss team game on Sunday, Dec. 9.
