Duplicate Bridge: Aug. 3



The Non-Life Master Sectional Tournament for players with fewer than 500 master points, originally scheduled for Aug. 16 to 18, has been moved up a week.
It will be held Friday, Aug. 9, to Sunday, Aug. 11, in the Bridge Center of Buffalo, 3362 Sheridan Drive, Amherst, with pairs games at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday, pairs games at 10 a.m. Sunday and Swiss teams at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The Airport Bridge Club offers triple points at no extra cost at all of its games next week, including the evening game at 7:15 p.m. Monday and open pairs games during the sectional at 11 a.m. Friday and next Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11.

Canadians prevailed at the Syracuse Regional Tournament July 23 to 28, but several Buffalo area players made their marks. Best among them was Joe Rooney in 69th place with 23.30 points. Others included Bud Seidenberg, Meg Klamp, John Toy and Chris Urbanek, tied for 83rd with 18.64 points; and Art Matthies and Chip Kean, tied for 106th with 15.55 points.
